Doordeck recommend controllers are powered via Power over Ethernet and the switch providing power is connected to a UPS; where PoE is unavailable or high power locks are required then we recommend local batteries.
Power outages can still occur even with backup systems, in these cases the behaviour of the lock is depending upon what type of lock it is and how it's been installed; for most cases Doordeck recommend "fail safe" locks, these are locks that require constant power to stay locked, if power fails they automatically unlock - the most common lock type, a magnetic lock, will unlock when power is lost.
